Are you curious about how and why people use Bluebeam Revu for Quantity Takeoffs? Here’s a link to a recording of a one-hour webinar where I covered:

  1. Reasons to use Revu for Quantity Takeoffs
  2. Measurements
  3. Layers
  4. Toolsets/tool chests
  5. Calculated columns
  6. Legends
  7. Connections to Excel (Revu Extreme)
Throughout the recording, you’ll hear my colleague Sash Kazeminejad and me answer questions from attendees. I pulled out these three, thinking that a lot of people will find them helpful:

Q. Is it possible to do a hollowed-out area?
A. Yes, after first area is created, use Tools>Measure>Polygon Cutout.

Q. Can you take a takeoff markup onto a revised sheet and adjust accordingly?
A. Yes, you could use Compare Documents (Document>Compare Documents) to compare old and new sheets to see if new items/modified items need to be quantified. Also Overlay Pages (Document>Overlay Pages) will show with color. In Revu Extreme, Batch Slip Sheet>Options can copy markups from old to revised sheets.

Q. Is it possible to use a custom column with Excel Quantity Link (Revu Extreme)?
A. Yes, it acts the same as the built-in columns. Just create the custom column before creating the Excel Quantity Link.
